Describe the process of communication as well as some of the factors that can cause communication to break down

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Communication occurs in an environment where it must compete with noise. Noise can take physical forms, such as crowd noise making it difficult to be heard, and intangible forms, "mental static" that can cause one to miss or ignore that which is said. Communication originates with a source. The credibility of the source plays a major role in how and whether a communication is received. The message is the content of the communication. If the message is not relevant or not in a language understood by the intended receiver, then it will probably be misunderstood or ignored. The medium used to transmit the message to the intended receiver is called the channel. Like the source, it must be relevant and credible to the receiver. The receiver is the person or persons for whom the message is intended. Communication is complete when there is feedback, which is the receiver's reaction, as interpreted by the source, to the message. If there is a breakdown anywhere in the process, communication does not occur.
