Explain how "adequacy," "variety," and "moderation" are keys to a healthy diet

What will be an ideal response?

Adequacy refers to the choice of sufficient foods to meet calorie and nutrient needs. Variety refers to selecting a wide variety of foods to ensure that a wide range of nutrients are being eaten. These two concepts work together to help prevent deficiencies and the over-consumption of specific nutrients. Moderation means to avoid the over-consumption of foods that lead to excess calories, which reduces risk of chronic diseases. Moderation helps to support the idea that there is no "bad" food; all foods can be part of a healthy diet as long as they are eaten in moderation.
