Describe the L stroke used in lymphatic facilitation
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: As its name suggests, the L stroke stretches the client's skin in an L-shaped pattern when applied during LF. The practitioner uses her fingertips, finger pads, thumb pads, flat fingers, or full hand to apply light pressure to the skin to form an L, then releases the pressure at the end to allow the tissue to return to its starting position. Because the stretchiness of skin will vary with each client, the practitioner should remember to stretch it only within its willingness to move and not increase the pressure beyond 4-5 grams.
