What are stylistic devices? Describe and provide an example for at least four different stylistic devices

What will be an ideal response?

Stylistic devices are figures of speech or tropes that are used to shape the style of a message. Speakers use a wide range of stylistic devices to make their presentations more interesting and vivid.
Students should provide four of the following examples of stylistic devices:
Metaphors are figures of speech that compare two things or ideas to highlight a particular point. For example, Kennedy used the expression "a city upon a hill" to emphasize the importance role of Massachusetts.
Hyperbole is a figure of speech that exaggerates a characteristic to capture an audience's attention and interest. For example, to describe exhaustion, one might say "I feel like I've walked a million miles today."
Alliteration refers to the repetition of a consonant sound in a series of words. For example, "she sells sea shells by the sea shore."
Assonance refers to the repetition of a vowel sound in a string of words. For example "tilting at windmills" or "high as a kite" are examples of assonance, because the vowel sound "i" repeats.
Similes are phrases that compare one thing to another with the use of the word like or as. For example, Forest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates."
Onomatopoeia refers to the use of words that sound like what they mean. For example, "buzz," "humm," or "bang."
Parallelism and repetition refers to the repetition of the same word or expression at the beginning of several sentences or phrases. For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. is known for his repetition of the phrase "I have a dream" in his famous speech.
Personification is the process of giving inanimate object human qualities. For example, saying the "wall jumped up and hit me" or "the sky is crying."
