Explain the relationship between assistive technology and Universal Design for Learning.

What will be an ideal response?

Assistive technology – or technology in general – can help in providing UDL, but providing assistive technology itself does not ensure that UDL is being implemented. Assistive technology provides options for educators in meeting the tenets of UDL. However, assistive technology decision-making and implementation typically occur at the individual student level, whereas UDL is implemented by the teacher to meet the range of all students. Assistive technology can be viewed as an accommodation, whereas UDL is focused on accessibility with the premise that providing universal accessibility will decrease the need for individual accommodations.
