Why are cogeneration systems particularly effective?

What will be an ideal response?

For the most part, we want our energy to do work, but both the activation energy and anything extra we put in is usually lost as heat. In other words, we pay to put it in but we don’t get anything for our money but heat. Cogeneration systems are particularly effective because they can recover at least some part of that heat and then do something with it (perform work).
