Give an example of stacking of claims.

What will be an ideal response?

Most states prohibit stacking of policies for UM and UIM coverage. In other words, UM and UIM are not available to the insured for the same accident. Therefore, an uninsured motorist who is the responsible party cannot be alleged by the insured to be both uninsured for the purposes of UM coverage and underinsured for purposes of UIM coverage. In multi-vehicle accidents, however, UM coverage may be applicable to one joint tortfeasor and UIM coverage may be applicable to another.
