Explain the parameters of a consent search.
What will be an ideal response?
Consent searches do not require a probable case, reasonable suspicion, or a warrant because they have consent. The consent must be given voluntarily, the police do not need it in writing, nor do they have to advise individuals of their rights before consent is asked. A third party can also provide consent so long as that third party has common authority over the space to be searched.
