Define the Heimlich maneuver

What will be an ideal response?

The Heimlich maneuver is a procedure that makes use of the air remaining in the victim’s lungs. With the Heimlich maneuver, pressure is placed on the abdomen during manual thrusts to cause an elevation of the diaphragm. This increases pressure on the lungs and causes an explosive force of air to be released, hopefully clearing the trachea.
