What is the difference between a recording budget and a recording fund?
What will be an ideal response?
A recording budget is the amount a label agrees to spend for production expenses, usually up to a
specific limit. If actual expenses are lower, the artist does not receive the difference. In the case of a
recording fund, the artist may receive the full amount allocated, whether or not the full amount is
actually spent on production. In either case, the amount the label advances is subject to recoupment
from future royalties.
