How can a proxy server be used for e-mail protection?
What will be an ideal response?
Casual users often assume that a proxy server exists primarily to protect users who are surfing the Web or to limit outside Web users' access to internal Web servers. However, proxy servers can be used to support and protect other network services, including e-mail. Mail that originates on an internal host is sent from the exchange server to the sendmail server, which strips out the IP source address information when it rebuilds the packets and sends them on to the Internet. External e-mail users never interact directly with internal hosts, which is the great advantage of this configuration.
