Describe three ways that special educators collaborate with general education teachers
What will be an ideal response?
One way in which special education and general education teachers collaborate is in developing ways to make curricula more accessible to students with special needs. Another way is through coteaching, in which both teachers provide instruction together in general education classrooms. There is also consultant teaching, in which the special education teacher observes, assesses, and helps plan for instruction but typically does not provide direct instruction in the general education classroom. They also help with the coordination of paraprofessionals by providing the paraprofessional with the guidelines for positive behavioral support to enhance the student's success in the classroom. Finally, both teachers may participate in teacher assistance teams (TATS) to meet the instructional and behavior needs of individual students.
