Answers will vary but should include the following points:
• Many students with emotional and behavioral disorders score below the means on IQ tests. There are two possible explanations for this: whether they are less intelligent than other students is difficult to say; disruptive behaviors may have interfered with past opportunities to learn many of the tasks measured by the tests; they are on task only about 60% of the time which has a dramatic impact on learning
• Tests are usually administered at a particular time and place and reflect performance at that time. Disruptive behavior may affect the results.
