What is the most significant benefit provided by the Paris Convention for trademark applicants? Discuss and give an example.

What will be an ideal response?

The most significant advantage is priority. An applicant has six months after filing an application in a member country to file a corresponding application in other member countries and capture the earlier filing date. Thus, if an application is filed in the United States on March 1, 2016, if the application is filed in a member country by September 1, 2016, the filing date (for purposes of determining priority) is deemed to be March 1, 2016.
