Explain positioning and the three main components of the positioning statement

What will be an ideal response?

Positioning is the process of establishing (and sustaining)an intended meaning for a market offering in the minds of targeted customers. Writing a positioning statement is the central element of the positioning process. The critical components are target, offering concept, and value proposition. The target component succinctly characterizes the specific type of customers for the market offering that are of most interest to the supplier. The offering concept component specifies the essential attributes of the market offering for the selected target, out of the potentially larger set of attributes that an offering might possess.
