MIC endpoints can be reported results obtained by the following conventional AST methods EXCEPT:

a. agar dilution.
b. automated broth dilution.
c. disk Diffusion.
d. E-test.

C
Quantitative MIC results (in ug/mL) are available by agar dilution, microdilution, macrodilution, and E-test methods. However, only qualitative results are obtained from disk diffusion methods. Zones of inhibition measured in mm are correlated with interpretive categories that are reported as susceptible, intermediate, or resistant. These categories are used to predict whether the bac-terial isolate will likely respond (susceptible) or will not respond (resistant) to common dose of the antimicrobial tested.
