What is the dramatization of evil? What is the difference between primary and secondary deviance?
What will be an ideal response?
The initial singling out of a child or group of children seen as deviant is referred to as the dramatization of evil. The process involves tagging, defining, identifying, segregating, describing, emphasizing, and evoking the very traits that have been identified as deviant. Primary deviance is rule-breaking behavior that is carried out by people who see themselves, and are seen by others, as conformist. Labeling occurs when this behavior is applied in a way that becomes part of that individual’s identity. This labeling may lead to secondary deviance, or rule-breaking behavior that would not have otherwise occurred.
