Describe a situation in which you would use redirection in your classroom. Describe the situation, the age of the student, what you would say, and why you would use redirection instead of another method.
What will be an ideal response?
I would use redirection in my toddler class because that is the age where it is very effective. If I saw a child take a toy slice of pizza away from another child after he has been warned not to do so, I would step in front of him and say, “You are going to get a big bellyache if you eat that much pizza! Now, let’s go look at the frog in the aquarium.” This would avoid a conflict between the child and me, use humor to lighten the situation, and take his mind off of the toy.
