How does our information processing rate affect our ability to listen?
What will be an ideal response?
Processing rate is the difference between the rate which someone speaks (125 words per
minute) and the rate at which people can listen (600 to 800 words per minute). In other
words, a listener has time to focus on his or her own thoughts rather than the speaker.
To overcome this problem, a listener should use the extra time to mentally summarize
what the speaker is saying.
