Why are chronemics important and how are chronemics influenced by culture?
What will be an ideal response?
Chronemics are important because individuals use time to communicate messages about events and relationships. In the United States, time is important and lateness can communicate thoughtlessness, irresponsibility, or selfishness. However, in other cultures time is more relative; for example, in Mexico people do not show up at the "scheduled time" and it is appropriate for people to show up for classes and social events even a half hour after the "scheduled time" and not be considered late.
