Describe the isometries that map a regular n-gon (n-sided polygon) onto itself. Give examples.

What will be an ideal response?

For all regular n-gons there are n rotations about the center of the polygon with directed angle the 1, . . . , n multiples of 360°/n. For example, for a triangle, the directed angles for the rotations would be 120°, 240° and 360°. For a square: 90°, 180°, 270° and 360°.

Solve the problem. When an object is dropped to the ground from a height of h meters, the time it takes for the object to reach the ground is given by the equation t = , where t is measured in seconds. Solve the equation for h. Use the result to determine the height from which an object was dropped if it hits the ground after falling for 3 seconds.
