How would a timing chain system be inspected for wear on an assembled engine?

What will be an ideal response?

Timing chain wear can be measured by the amount of movement the crankshaft makes before the camshaft begins to move. A torque angle gauge can be used when timing marks are not available. The crankshaft should be moved clockwise then counter clockwise. The distributor can be watched or rocker arms can be used as a reference. More than eight degrees, or specifications provided by the manufacturer show a need for replacement.
