Relate reasons that may be responsible for the increase in dental caries
What will be an ideal response?
There are several reasons that dental caries have increased in the population of children in this country. The first may be the increase in soft drink consumption and the consumption of juices. The AAP is now suggesting that children be limited to 4 to 6 ounces of 100% fruit juice per day. Another reason may be that parents do not understand the importance of oral health or may not have access to dental insurance. In some cultures dental care is only accessed when necessary, so a family from another culture may not think of seeing a dentist as a preventive measure.
