What are smoke barriers?
What will be an ideal response?
Smoke barriers are fire-resistant continuous membranes used to restrict the movement of smoke. They have a fire-resistance rating specified by building code. They form a continuous membrane from one outside wall to another and from floor slab to roof (or floor slab above). Doors in smoke barriers must meet special code requirements and have automatic closers that activate when detectors sense smoke. They typically have a one-hour minimum fire-resistance requirement.
