Explain the basic mechanism CRISPR in DNA manipulation

CRISPR allows the nucleotide sequence of specific genes to be changed. A protein first cuts the DNA at specific locations that are complementary to a guideRNA. The cell then repairs the DNA in a specific way that alters the original DNA sequence.
