Explain why human height appears to be a mixture of parental phenotypes when in fact height is

genetically based.

What will be an ideal response?

Human height is a result of polygenic inheritance where there are multiple genes that contribute to this
single phenotypic trait. When genes are inherited from two parents of vastly different heights, this
results in a reduced number of alleles for tall height compared to the tall parent and an increased
number of alleles for tall height compared to the shorter parent.
