How can the position of a product in its life cycle be located?

What will be an ideal response?

The easiest way to locate a product in its life cycle is to study its past performance, competitive history, and current position and to match this information with the characteristics of a particular stage of the life cycle. Analysis of past performance will include the history of sales growth progression since introduction, the study of whether any design or technical problems needed to be sorted out, sales and profit of allied products, the number of years that the product has been on the market, and the casualty history of similar products in the past. Additionally, one must look to see whether sales are on an upswing or a downswing and whether any competitive products are moving to replace the product under consideration. These considerations must be related to each stage of the life cycle.
