What is the difference between air leakage and ventilation of buildings?

Air leakage is unwanted ventilation of building caused by infiltration and exfiltration of air through small gaps and voids from unsealed or inadequately sealed joints in the building envelope. These gaps introduce unconditioned air (unfiltered, dusty and sometimes polluted outside air) into the interior.
