How are dry fruits different than fleshy fruits? How might these differences affect the way that their seeds are dispersed?
What will be an ideal response?
Answers may vary. A dry fruit has a waterless, dry exocarp and mesocarp. The pericarp is, therefore, thin and compressed, adhering to the seed. A fleshy fruit has a well developed mesocarp. Fleshy fruits attract animals, who use them as food and disperse the seeds, usually through defecation. Many dry fruits are dispersed by wind.
