Explain what the minor and major thrust sides of the piston are.

What will be an ideal response?

The minor thrust surface is the area of the piston skirt that contacts the cylinder wall during the compression stroke. When the big end of the connecting rod is rotated to one side of the engine at this time, the minor thrust surface is on the opposite end. The major thrust surface area is the area of the piston skirt that contacts the cylinder wall during the power stroke. When the big end of the connecting rod is rotated to one side of the engine at this time, the major thrust area is on the opposite end.
