Memory is dynamic in the sense that it is constantly evolving and changing. Fond memories we have of a childhood friend, for example, could change as we grow older, especially if we don’t have much in common any longer. Instead of seeing the fun times we had, we might start remembering all the times we fought as children. Memory as creative means that it is reconstructive; we use bits and pieces of information to recall large parts of our lives that we otherwise don’t remember so well. And final, memory as social means that we jointly construct and maintain our memories with others. For example, our parents help us know who we are as people by sharing memories of our selves when we were too young to have those memories.
