What are the four roles of the lymphatic system in relation to the cardiovascular system?

What will be an ideal response?

Not all fluid, including filtered proteins, that leaves the arteriolar end of a capillary returns to the capillary at its venule end. The lymphatic system (1) absorbs excess tissue fluid and (2) filtered proteins from interstitial fluid. (3) It also absorbs fats from the digestive system since the fats are too large to be absorbed directly into blood capillaries. The absorbed liquid, proteins, and fats are then delivered to the blood in a vein near the heart. (4) The lymphatic system serves in the body's defense by housing specialized white blood cells called lymphocytes, which produce antibodies and/or actively destroy invading pathogens.
