How does money laundering serve the interests of organized crime?
What will be an ideal response?
Illegal gains—especially cash--are problematic for reasons of taxation, inheritance, and even purchasing a home, car, or capital stock, because Currency Transaction Reports (CRT) are required for cash deposits over $10,000 . By laundering the money, either to make it appear legal, or by moving it out of the country undetected, illegal gains can then be used to make purchases.
