What will be an ideal response?
Otoacoustic emissions involve a probe to be placed in the patient's ear. The probe produces audible clicks while a microphone captures the signal produced by the cochlea. The test results determine whether the cochlea is functioning normally. The test does not require the patient to be actively participating. Auditory evoked potentials measure the electrical activity of the acoustic nerve and brain when an auditory stimulus is presented. Electrodes are placed on the patient's scalp and a computer analyzes the response.
