Describe the biological and psychological consequences of obesity.
What will be an ideal response?
Being overweight or obese has negative effects on adolescent health, in terms of both biological development and socioemotional development. In terms of biological development, being overweight in adolescence is linked with high blood pressure, hip problems, pulmonary problems, and type 2 diabetes. In terms of socioemotional development, adolescents who are overweight are more likely than their normal-weight counterparts to have low self-esteem, to be depressed, and to have more problems in relationships with peers.
