What are the ways in which early Hebrew civilization arose from, and eventually diverged from Mesopotamian culture?.
What will be an ideal response?
Answers will vary, but students should be able to trace the many similarities between Mesopotamian and Hebrew culture, which include the influence of Hammurabi's code on Hebrew Scripture, descriptions of ziggurats and parallel stories describing the flood, the tower of Babel, and the garden of Eden. Unlike the Mesopotamians, the Hebrews were nomadic, patriarchal, and had an incorporeal deity.
