Why and how are blogs used in promotions?
What will be an ideal response?
Blogs are used in promotions because public relations practitioners can sidestep mainstream media outlets and speak directly to the public through a blog. Marketers or advertisers can use a blog to reach niche communities that have an interest in their organizations or products, providing them with content unavailable in other venues. Blogging can provide people with that “human” touch that isn’t often associated with this form of media. In addition, the blogger can create a personal bond between the company and the audience, much in the same way a celebrity spokesperson or mascot does. Blogging allows you to refresh your content and bring people to your site at the same time. A blog gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge frequently, thus giving you the opportunity to show that you are a thought leader on the topic. Using a blog to present information to the public on a daily basis allows you to retain your focus as an organization as well as a member within it.
