Discuss the factors (according to Rahim, 2001) that may lead to an increased likelihood that conflict could occur. Provide an example not discussed in your text of each type

What will be an ideal response?

the likelihood of conflict increases when individuals are required to
engage in a behavior that is inconsistent with his or her needs or interests. Conflicts
regarding working overtime or not being granted leave for family events are examples of
this factor.
Second, the likelihood of conflict increases when individuals are forced to compete for
scarce resources that they either desire personally or need in order to successfully do their
job. One example of this would be a preferred customer list in a telemarketing firm;
conflict could occur when one individual or group of individuals has access to such a list
while another individual or group of individuals is forced to rely on randomly generated
lists of potential customers.
Third, organizational conflict is more likely when an individual possesses attitudes,
values, skills, or goals that are exclusive of another party's. One example might be a
manager who holds racially or sexually discriminatory attitudes towards other
organizational members.
Finally, the likelihood of organizational conflict is increased when parties who are
interdependent have at least partially exclusive behavioral preferences regarding their
joint activities. If one sales agent likes to conduct business over dinner and drinks in the
evening while another sales agent likes to maintain traditional working hours and does not believe in the use of alcohol, the potential for conflict based on behavioral
preferences greatly increases particularly if the two agents are teamed together.
