What are some psychological effects of bullying victimization?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Bullying has been linked to poor psychosocial adjustment--students who are bullied more often report greater levels of unhappiness and lower self-worth. Bullying during adolescence has been linked to anxiety and depression both contemporaneously and later in life. Being bullied also has been shown to be linked to health symptoms in children. Children who reported being bullied were more likely to report not sleeping well, bed-wetting, and getting occasional headaches and tummy aches. In addition to these consequences, being bullied has negative outcomes on school adjustment and performance. Bullied youth are more likely to say they dislike school than are nonbullied youth, are more likely to report absenteeism from school, and have higher levels of school avoidance.
