Describe how you will titrate the dopamine infusion

What will be an ideal response?

You would start the infusion at 4 mcg/kg/min as ordered, then increase by 1 mcg/kg/min every
5 to 10 minutes until the desired effect or clinical response is obtained or the maximum dose is
reached. Each time the dose is adjusted, R.J.'s vital signs would be assessed and documented. Dosage
calculation on high-alert medications, such as IV dopamine, would be verified by a second source,
such as a second RN or a hospital-approved chart.
