Explain how leeches are used today in medical replants and transplants

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Leeches produce anticoagulants and vasodilators that both increase the flow of blood. Replants or transplants that do not have a sufficient number of functional veins will likely fail due to low oxygen content. Leeches can be applied to the replant or transplant area to facilitate the movement of fresh blood into the site so that it does not fail.
