The area is called the theatron, the seeing place
Orchestra: flat terrace below the slope that served as the dancing place
Thymele: an altar dedicated to the god Dionysus located in the middle of the orchestra
Skene: a hut or tent on the side of the orchestra opposite the audience and architecturally
joined to the auditorium and with three doors that serves as the scene house
Parodoi: spaces at either side between the skene and the auditorium that are used as
entrances and exits for the performers
Deus ex macchina: crane-like device used to lower gods into the playing space
