Describe the flow of blood through the heart, starting at the superior and inferior vena cava and ending at the aorta.
What will be an ideal response?
The blood flows from the superior and inferior vena cavas into the right atrium through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. From the right ventricle and through the pulmonary semilunar valve, the blood passes to the lungs via the pulmonary artery. The blood returns from the lungs via the pulmonary vein entering the left atrium. The blood then passes through the mitral valve into the left ventricle. From the left ventricle the blood passes though the aortic semilunar valve into the aorta.
