Data require a hard start and hard stop, but if a woman has been in an abusive relationship for the past 20 years, when is the start and stop? Most data-driven crime analysis can register individual events. In this type of situation, do you consider 20 years as one event or do you count every time the person was abused for the purpose of statistics. This can create a false inflation or decrease in the crime rate. Which is why series victimizations is incredibly hard to data plot.
