Three Mexican territories were ceded to the United States in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Discuss what happened to the Mexican citizens who lived in those territories after the end of the Mexican-American war.

What will be an ideal response?

After the end of the war some Mexicans who lived in these territories were granted full U.S. citizenship. U.S. citizenship was denied to both black Mexicans and Pueblo Indians, even though both groups had previously been Mexican citizens. Black Mexicans in Texas were given the choice of staying in Texas and becoming slaves or being deported to Mexico.
