Discuss the mounting requirements of room air conditioners.

What will be an ideal response?

Room air conditioners must be mounted so that the heat extracted from the room air can be expelled to the outside and not re-circulated back into the home. Any room air conditioner that does not vent heat to the outside will not cool a room. A stream of cold air may blow from its front, but an equal or greater amount of heat is being discharged from the unit’s heat exchanger back into the room. In applications where outside venting is not possible, an ordinary fan or an evaporative cooler (in dry climates) is a better cooling option than an air conditioner.
