Explain how essential oils can be used in diffusers, light bulb rings, aromastones, scented candles, scented massage oils, lotions, and crèmes and liniments

What will be an ideal response?

Diffusers: Aromatherapy diffusers come in many sizes, shapes, and styles. The basic diffuser is a ceramic pot with a small bowl to hold water and essential oils (4 to 6 drops), heated by a small candle. The warmth of the candle releases the properties in the essential oils. Another type of aromatherapy diffuser uses the warmth of hot water indirectly. A plate is placed over a pot filled with hot water, and 4 to 6 drops of essential oil are placed on the plate. As the plate warms, the essential oil evaporates and diffuses into the air. There are also electric diffusers, some with fans, some made of glass. These diffusers disinfect and scent the atmosphere by releasing droplets of essential oil as a cool mist.
Light Bulb Rings: Light bulb rings sit on top of light bulbs. When the light is turned on, the warmth of the bulb diffuses the essential oils into the room.
Aromastone: Aromastones are made of porcelain or ceramic and plug into electrical outlets. Essential oil is poured directly onto the heated porcelain or ceramic surface; no water is needed.
Scented Candles: Candles come in all different sizes, shapes, and scents. They can be made of paraffin, soywax, or beeswax. High quality candles that burn cleanly and are scented with pure essential oils are the best to use.
Scented Massage Oils, Lotions, and Crèmes: To prepare one application, dilute 10 to 12 drops of essential oil with 1 ounce of either a carrier oil or an unscented lotion. If preparing a 4- or 8- ounce bottle of oil or lotion, the addition of a few drops of jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, or wheat germ oil will act as a preservative.
Liniments: Liniments are liquid preparations that cause a soothing, cooling, warming, or analgesic action when applied to the skin. The therapeutic action of a liniment application is to increase blood flow to the area and to stimulate the receptors that feel heat and cold. The sensation of hot or cold distracts the brain from the original pain, reducing the perception of pain and offering temporary relief. An example of a heating liniment is one that uses capsicum; an example of a cooling liniment is one that uses menthol or mint.
