Describe the difference between absolute poverty and relative poverty
What will be an ideal response?
Absolute poverty is the absence of enough money to purchase life's necessities, such as food, clothing, and shelter. Relative poverty is a comparison of the economic condition of those at the bottom of a society with that of other strata. Thus, a basketball player in the National Basketball Association who earns the minimum salary of $300,000 suffers from relative poverty in relation to the superstars of the league. However, that player could not be considered to be poverty-stricken from an absolute standpoint.
