Planned ignoring involves the systematic withdrawal of social attention for the length of the timeout period. Contingent observation requires the student to remain in a position to observe the group without participating or receiving reinforcement for a specified period. Exclusionary timeout involves the student being physically excluded from an ongoing activity.
