Which artist was known for his cycle paintings and why were they popular in Northern homes?

What will be an ideal response?

A cycle painting was one of a series of paintings on a secular theme such as the seasons or the five senses. Pieter Bruegel, the Elder, painted the months of the year in two-month groupings (Fig. 17.12). There were often moralizing elements in these paintings as well as humor. A market was created for paintings that were not religious due to the growing middle class seeking decorations for their homes.
